About

Originally running from 1978-1988, Australia's toughest foot race challenged competitors to lug 60kg bags of wheat 1km to the summit of Mount Wycheproof - officially the world's smallest mountain. The annual event attracted participants from across the nation, bringing together running enthusiasts and spectators alike.

Now, 35 years since the last competition, the Wycheproof Narraport Football Netball Club is bringing it back.

Join us on Saturday 30 September 2023 from 9am to 6pm at Wycheproof Centenary Park to witness this true test of endurance, skill and determination.

The day kicks off with the Riordan King of the Mountain 10-race meet starting at 9.45am with the Mountain Dash categories, followed by the Wheelbarrow Relays. The Riordan King and Queen of the Mountain races round out the competitive part of the day, where competitors will complete the course lugging a wheat bag on their shoulders weighing 60kg and 20kg respectively. Entries for the King, Queen and Relay races close 27 September, with Dash entries open up until race day.

Following the races, the Riordan King of the Mountain Picnic will be held at Centenary Park Wycheproof from 12 noon to 6pm, with kids activities, food and drink, live music and the AFL Grand Final on the big screen.

The Riordan King of the Mountain event caters for the whole family, from race to relaxation. We look forward to welcoming you to town!
